Since childhood, my love of art, in all its forms, has intrigued me and
set my path in life. It all began at age five, when I snuck poly clay home from
kindergarten to make abstract sculptures well into the night. In the morning,
I hid the clay in my pockets so I wouldn't get in trouble. This worked until
one
day, my mom forgot to check my pockets and I had to explain why the inside of
her dryer looked like a Picasso painting. Because of my passion to work with my hands, to create art and the enjoyment
of various media, I studied industrial and product design at the Academy of
Art
in San Francisco. I have worked with wood, clay, resins, paper and glass. My
classes included drafting for presentation, model-making, art history, design
problem-solving,
history of industrial design, materials and processes, form development, human
mechanics, computer drafting and photoshop software. I also apprenticed at
Architile,
a mosaic studio in San Francisco, for five years. During that time I worked on
over 20 projects, implementing a variety of media and techniques.I not only enjoy
creating my own designs but also enjoy working with other designers and artists
to produce beautiful works of art. I like using traditional
and contemporary techniques and various media to form individual pieces that
suit
unique surroundings and tastes. I’d like to see my work continue to change
and develop to reflect the diverse and ever-changing world, as well as to honor
the amazing traditions, history and artists that have gotten us to this point. |
